Mumbai, 12 Aug (HS):
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) earned a revenue of Rs
137.37 crore in four days from August 8 to 11, including Rs 39 crore on August
11. This is a sort of record for the State Transport. The revenue was earned in
passenger transport during the long weekend and the Rakshabandhan festival, Minister
for Public Transport and Chairman of MSRTC, Pratap Sarnaik, said.
Sarnaik said that the State Transport earns higher
revenue during Rakshabandhan and Bhau Beej (Bhai Duj). This year, the State
Transport earned Rs 30.06 crore on Friday, Rs 34.86 crore on Saturday (Rakshabandhan Day), Rs 33.36 crore on Sunday and Rs 39.9 crore on Monday. During the
four days, 1.93 crore people, including 88 lakh women, travelled in the State
Transport buses.
Sarnaik thanked the people for the support and
congratulated the MSRTC employees for their dedicated service.
