Ghaziabad, 12 Aug

(HS): The police of Crossing Republic police station arrested two notorious

criminals during an encounter near ABES College on Monday night. Both the

criminals were planning to commit a crime. During the encounter, a miscreant

was injured by a bullet fired by the police. He has been admitted to the

hospital for treatment. An illegal pistol, a live cartridge, an empty

cartridge, a stolen motorcycle, PAN card, ATM card, Rs 34,000 and a white metal

bracelet were recovered from them.

ACP Priyashri Pal

said that on Monday night, the police of Crossing Republic police station was

checking by placing a barrier under the Chipiyana underpass. Then, on the

information of a special informer, it was found that two persons riding a

Passion Pro bike without a number plate were going to commit a crime. Taking

immediate cognizance of the information, another checking point was set up in

front of ABES College by the Crossing Republic team. When two suspicious bike

riders were signaled to stop, instead of stopping, they drove their bike at a

high speed and turned towards ABES. When they saw that another police team was

standing in front of ABES, they turned their bike on the kutcha road going from

the ABS site and tried to run towards it. Due to the rainy season and mud, their

bike slipped. The police surrounded both of them. After which they opened fire

on the police. The police also fired in self-defense, and one of them, Vakil

alias Rizwan, got shot in the leg. On interrogation, it was learnt that more

than a dozen cases are registered against him. His other accomplice, Mustakeem,

was also caught during this time.
