(HS): Late on Monday night in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, a constable

posted in the police department stabbed his wife to death. The constable had

performed love marriage with the deceased on August 2. He suspected that his

wife was having an illicit relationship with someone. This incident took place

near the Jail Gate Chowki in Sadar Kotwali area. The accused constable Gama

Nishad surrendered before the police on Tuesday morning after killing his wife

Maya. The police have started proceedings by arresting him.

Police Abhinandan said that the accused is posted as a constable in the police

department, who had a love marriage with his girlfriend 10 days ago. Since the

marriage, there was a dispute between the two on some issue or the other every

day. Constable Gama suspected his wife's character, due to which the tension

between the two kept increasing. Late night on August 11, there was a heated

argument between the two again in their rented house located near the jail gate

post.

During this, in a fit of rage, constable Gama attacked his wife with a

knife, due to which she died on the spot. After the murder, Gama locked himself

in the room and after some time reached Sadar Kotwali and informed the police about

the incident. Sadar Kotwali police immediately reached the spot and took the

body in their possession and sent it for postmortem. Accused constable Gama

Nishad is being interrogated. The police has also recovered the knife used in

the murder.
