Mumbai,12 Aug (HS): Bhiwandi police in Thane
district seized 16 kg of Mephedrone worth Rs 31.84 crore, and arrested two people
involved in drug trafficking.
A police officer investigating the case informed the
media on Tuesday that, based on intelligence information, police laid a trap on the Rajnoli-Bhiwandi Highway on Monday night. During search of a car, 15.924 kg of Mephedrone was recovered, the market price of which is Rs 31.85 crore.
Those arrested have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad
Qamar Ahmad Ansari, and Mahesh Hindurao Desai. Several cases have been
registered against Tanveer at Mumbra, Daighar, Byculla, and other police
stations. Many cases have also been registered against Desai in Kolhapur.
Police initiated an investigation into the other
connections in the racket.
