Nagpur, 12
Aug (HS): Several centres assigned the contract of installing the High Security
Registration Plate (HSRP) have been found charging more than the amount fixed
by the government. The centres are collecting Rs 50 extra and installing fragile number plates, which break easily.
As per state
government-approved rates, the total cost for HSRP installation (including all
taxes and charges) is fixed at Rs 232 for two-wheelers (motorcycles, scooters,
trailers), Rs 510 for three-wheelers (auto-rickshaws), and Rs 757 for
four-wheelers and heavy vehicles (cars, buses, trucks, tempos). Charging any
amount beyond these rates is strictly prohibited.
Nitin Giri reported a case from the Dabha area, where a centre had
charged an extra Rs 50 for HSRP installation. Following this, the company
suspended operations at that location.
“No centre is allowed to collect extra charges under any pretext. After
receiving a complaint about overcharging, we have stopped work at the concerned
centre,” said Amir Hussain, Roadmate Safety Systems Ltd., Nagpur.
