New Delhi, August 1(HS): The Tihar Jail administration has opposed Tahawwur Rana's request for Phone Conversation with his family, arguing against his petition in the Patiala House Court. On June 9, the court allowed him one supervised call to his family and sought clarification on future phone communication.
On July 9, Rana's judicial custody was extended until August 13, coinciding with the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) supplementary charge sheet filing against him. A hearing for the charge sheet is set for August 13, following the collection of Rana's voice and handwriting samples on May 3.
After the US Supreme Court denied his extradition petition, Indian agencies were dispatched for his return. Rana was arrested upon arrival at Delhi's Palam Air Force Station on April 10. A Canadian of Pakistani origin and childhood friend of David Coleman Headley, he previously opened an agency in Mumbai to assist Headley.
