Delhi, 1 August (H.S.): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized enhancing collaboration between civil and military personnel to strengthen national security during the 84th Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ) Civilian Services Day at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday. He acknowledged the vital support of various Ministry of Defence (MoD) departments in ensuring the success of Operation Sindoor, reinforcing that a country’s collective effort is crucial in war efforts.

Singh highlighted the necessity for adaptability and innovation in the face of evolving security challenges, arguing against any negligence in these matters.He underscored the significance of a strong administrative framework for military strength, praising the AFHQ Civilian Services for their contributions during both peace and wartime. He characterized the AFHQ Services as the institutional memory of the MoD, essential for maintaining consistency and continuity in policy, thereby fostering civil-military synergy integral to a contemporary national defense system.

Singh urged AFHQ officials to adopt best practices related to training and capabilities from other ministries and nations, advocating for a continuous learning cycle that incorporates skill enhancement and ethical training, along with technical proficiency. He articulated that AFHQ must evolve into a value-driven institution, aligning actions with national interests.

At the event, he also launched a revamped website for the Office of Joint Secretary & Chief Administrative Officer, aimed at improving access to essential information for employees regarding promotions, transfers, and training opportunities. Furthermore, he released the book ‘Viksit Bharat@2047: Karmikon Ke Vichar’ containing 40 employee-written articles on diverse topics like digitization and green energy, as well as the magazine ‘Samvad’ featuring various creative contributions from employees.

Awards were presented to AFHQ personnel for achievements in sports and academics among employees' children. Significant figures from the defense establishment, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and senior officials from MoD, attended the event. August 1 is celebrated as AFHQ Day to acknowledge the contributions of civilian personnel working alongside military staff within the Integrated Service Headquarters and Inter-Service Organisations, promoting camaraderie among AFHQ cadres.
