Delhi, 1 August (H.S.): Efforts are underway by the government for the development of women from minority communities: Rijiju New Delhi, August 1 (H.S.): Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju emphasized on Friday that Dr. Ambedkar connected societal development to women's status, highlighting the government's commitment to advancing women from minority communities.
Speaking at the national consultation meeting on Rights of Muslim Women in India, organized by the National Commission for Women, he noted that empowering Muslim women is crucial for inclusive development. Rijiju asserted that economic empowerment leads to social strength and promised to push forward the meeting's recommendations.
Vijaya Rahatkar, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, referred to the meeting as a vital platform to elevate the voices of Muslim women in policymaking, aiming to address long-standing issues of justice and rights. She stressed the need for laws to align with public sentiment, which can only be achieved through dialogue and engagement.
Rijiju also launched a book titled Naya Daur, published by the National Commission for Women, detailing rights and welfare schemes for Muslim women. The event brought together advocates, scholars, activists, policymakers, and civil society representatives nationwide to discuss and contribute to the rights and welfare of Muslim women in India.
