Delhi, 9 July (H.S.): The Ministry of Education is hosting a Vice Chancellors Conference for Central Universities in Kevadia, Gujarat, on 10th-11th July 2025. Key attendees include Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Education. This conference marks the five-year implementation milestone of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), focusing on reviewing progress and shaping future strategies for Central Universities.
Discussions will revolve around three main themes: Strategic Alignment with NEP’s goals, Peer Learning for sharing innovations and challenges, and Forward Planning for upcoming policy milestones and the academic landscape of 2047. Ten thematic sessions aligned with NEP’s pillars—Equity, Accountability, Quality, Access, and Affordability—will address various aspects of higher education, including the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), digital education initiatives like SWAYAM, university governance through SAMARTH, equity promotion, research and innovation, internationalization efforts, faculty development, and more.
Participating institutions include notable universities such as the University of Delhi, JNU, and many others. The conference aims to foster collaboration among institutions, generate insights for future implementation of NEP 2020, and contribute to the transformative vision for India's higher education by 2040, ultimately supporting the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Outcomes from this conference are expected to shape and enhance the higher education landscape in India.
