Delhi, 9 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the bridge collapse in Vadodara, Gujarat, and wished for the injured's quick recovery. He announced Rs. 2 lakh ex-gratia from PMNRF for the deceased's families and Rs. 50,000 for the injured.
The Prime Minister’s Office posted on X;
“The loss of lives due to the collapse of a bridge in Vadodara district, Gujarat, is deeply saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.
An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi
In Anand district, Gujarat, an old bridge collapsed, causing two trucks and a Bolero to plunge into the Mahi River. Three people died, while three others were rescued by locals and rescue teams. The deteriorating bridge, constructed in 1981 and opened in 1985, disrupted connections to nearby regions and was known as a suicide point.
