Anand, July 9 (H.S.) : In Anand district, Gujarat, a tragic incident occurred when an old bridge collapsed, causing two trucks and a Bolero to fall into the Mahi River. This resulted in three fatalities, while three individuals were rescued by local citizens and rescue teams. The Padra police and fire brigade responded, aided by local swimmers in the search efforts.

The bridge, which began construction in 1981 and opened in 1985, had deteriorated significantly over recent years, disrupting connectivity to Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, and Ankleshwar. The bridge was also known as a suicide point. Local vigilance facilitated the rescue of three survivors.
