Delhi, 8 July (H.S.): PM Modi has arrived in Brasilia for a State Visit to Brazil on Monday evening(Local time) following the productive and successful conclusion of the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.On arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Defence Minister José Múcio Monteiro Filho. A traditional Brazilian Samba Reggae performance enhanced the reception.

At Brasilia airport, the Batala Mundo band played some wonderful compositions. Theirs is a global effort to promote Afro-Brazilian percussion, in particular the Samba-Reggae from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. PM Modi On X.

PM Narendra Modi attended the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he put forward India’s vision and priorities on key global issues. On the sidelines of the summit, he held productive meetings with several world leaders, furthering bilateral cooperation and strategic partnerships.

The BRICS Summit in Brazil from July 6 to 7 featured leaders from various nations, including new members like Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Indonesia. Key topics included global governance reform, peace and security, multilateralism, development, and Artificial Intelligence regulation. PM Modi thanked Brazil for hosting and highlighted India’s commitment to amplifying the Global South's voice on climate finance and technology access. He addressed the need for reform in institutions like the UN Security Council and advocated for a multipolar world, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. Modi proposed focusing the New Development Bank on sustainable projects and fostering responsible AI governance.

During the outreach session on ‘Environment, COP30, and Global Health,’ PM Modi stressed climate justice as a moral duty, advocating for technology transfer and financing for developing nations. He highlighted India's early fulfillment of Paris Agreement commitments, emphasizing environmental protection as essential to India's ethos. Various initiatives were mentioned, including Mission LiFE and the International Solar Alliance. Modi linked health and environmental issues, reflecting on COVID-19's lessons for collaborative global health initiatives. He concluded by redefining the BRICS agenda to focus on resilience, innovation, and sustainability, ensuring inclusivity and addressing Global South concerns during India's chairmanship.Following these discussions, the member countries finalized the 'Rio de Janeiro Declaration,' reflecting a commitment to collaborative efforts moving forward under India's BRICS chairmanship, aligned with the overarching goals of resilience, innovation, and sustainability in international cooperation.
