Washington, July 6 (H.S.): Elon Musk, Tesla's owner and the world's richest person, announced the formation of a new political party called the 'American Party' to combat America's one-party systemon Saturday. He expressed his belief that this development is vital for restoring freedom to American citizens and criticized the current political climate as corrupt and financially irresponsible.

He wrote in an X post, When it comes to bankrupting our country through ruin and corruption, we are living in a one-party system, not in a democracy.

By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! he wrote.

Musk's announcement comes after a significant rift with former President Donald Trump, with whom he was once allied and the largest donor in the 2024 elections. Disagreements over the One Big Beautiful Bill led to their split, prompting Musk to launch his party after the bill's passage, which he believes contributes to rising national debt. He aims for the American Party to serve as a genuine alternative for the American populace, challenging the status quo in the political landscape.
