Jammu, 31 July (H.S.): Senior BJP leader and MLA from Bahu Assembly constituency, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today held a public darbar at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to engage with citizens and address their grievances.
A large number of deputations from different localities of Jammu participated in the darbar, highlighting various civic issues, ranging from infrastructure needs to administrative challenges.
The public darbar witnessed a diverse range of demands. Residents from Last Morh Gandhi Nagar urged immediate repair of broken iron gratings and clearing of choked drains. A deputation from small plots Gandhi Nagar presented a case for compassionate appointment under SRO-43, while citizens from Arjun Vihar appealed for repairs to lanes and drains. The demand for the installation of a statue of Baba Dalip Singh Manhas at Chamlyal was putforth by a deputation from Hiranagar.
Other notable issues included the need for electric light repairs and installation in Talab Tillo, leakage in PHE pipes in Gole Market Gandhi Nagar, bifurcation of ration cards in Nanak Nagar, and the construction of a community sanitary complex in Kryal Brahmana. A deputation from Laxmipuram Chinore also stressed the need for urgent drain clearance.
Speaking on the occasion, Ch. Vikram Randhawa assured the public that their concerns are being taken seriously and necessary follow-ups will be initiated with the concerned departments. “Issues related to civic amenities like drainage, street lights, and basic sanitation cannot be overlooked. These directly affect the quality of life, and I will personally ensure that departments are made accountable for timely redressal,” he said.
He particularly emphasized the importance of sanitation and drain maintenance in urban areas, citing their impact on health and hygiene. “Jammu is evolving into a vibrant urban centre, and it is imperative to ensure our civic infrastructure keeps pace with its growth,” he added.
The event was coordinated by T.K. Sharma, co-convenor of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, J&K BJP, who facilitated smooth interaction between the public and party leadership.
