New Delhi, July 31(HS): The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding a petition that contests a trial court's decision to frame charges against MP Engineer Rashid in a terror funding case. Justice Vivek Chaudhary's bench has set the next hearing for October 6.

The High Court referred a petition challenging the NIA's requirement for a significant security deposit during Rashid's custody parole for the parliamentary session. N. Hariharan, Rashid's senior advocate, argued that the Patiala House Court demanded ₹17 lakh for security, which he described as punitive for a representative of the people.

Rashid previously received permission for parole for the parliamentary session but could not attend due to the exorbitant amount required. He was granted custody parole on July 22 for the upcoming session starting July 21.
