Montreal, July 31(HS): Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round of the National Bank Open, defeating China's Guo Hanyu 6-3, 6-1. This was Swiatek's first match after winning her sixth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon against Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0, extending her winning streak to 24 matches. She noted the challenges of transitioning back to hard courts but felt she played solidly.

Swiatek will face the winner of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Eva Lis next. American Jessica Pegula also progressed, defeating Maria Sakkari 7-5, 6-4, while Madison Keys beat Laura Siegemund 6-2, 6-1. Naomi Osaka secured a tough win over Lyudmila Samsonova, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
