New Delhi, July 30 (HS): Vishva Hindu Parishad's Central Joint General Secretary, Dr. Surendra Jain, expressed condemnation over the recent illegal religious conversion case involving tribal individuals in Chhattisgarh, where two nuns were apprehended with three tribal girls. The local citizens reported suspicious behavior, leading to police intervention at Durg railway station, and subsequently, charges of human trafficking and illegal conversion were filed against the nuns.

Dr. Jain highlighted that such accusations are not new, as the church has faced similar claims multiple times, referencing a 2018 incident where 280 children were reported missing from Nirmal Hriday Ashram. He criticized the church for its history of unlawful activities disguised as charitable services, asserting that the organization often shifts blame onto Hindu groups when caught, despite recurring evidence of its wrongdoing. The Home Ministry previously investigated such claims and found them baseless, confirming the church's involvement in illicit practices.

Dr. Jain pointed out the support from the Congress party, particularly leaders like Rahul Gandhi, for those accused, as Congress MPs protested on parliament grounds in defense of the nuns and even pressured the Chhattisgarh government to release the suspects. He condemned this interference, stating lawmakers should support legal proceedings instead of shielding alleged lawbreakers. Dr. Jain questioned a bishop's suggestion for nuns to abandon traditional attire, implying that they may wish to conceal their identity due to nefarious intentions. He warned against illegal conversions and asked why the church targets Hindu settlements when they could practice freely in their own communities.Dr. Jain called on the people of Kerala to discourage nuns from engaging in illegal activities that tarnish the state's culture, urging local leaders not to support such actions.

He appealed to politicians and sociologists across India to pressure the church to cease these activities and urged the central government to enact laws against religious conversions, aiming to protect vulnerable Hindus, particularly women and girls, from deceitful proselytizing efforts. He emphasized that while Hindus are generally tolerant, they will not permit illegal conversions or exploitation within their communities.
