Delhi, 3 July (H.S.): The Ministry of Women and Child Development will inaugurate a new Regional Centre of the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development in Ranchi, Jharkhand, tomorrow on July 4, 2025. Union Minister Annapurna Devi will lead the ceremony, attended by key officials including Savitri Thakur and other dignitaries. The event will feature interactions with trainee girls, distribution of Placement Certificates for completed vocational training, and the unveiling of a new logo for the Institute.
This Regional Centre aims to decentralize capacity-building and enhance service delivery in the Eastern region of India, specifically targeting Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal. It will support the Ministry's flagship initiatives—Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0—by tailoring interventions to local needs, thereby strengthening grassroots implementation of central schemes. The Centre will offer an Advanced Diploma Course in Child Guidance and Counseling, providing essential training for frontline workers and creating new employment opportunities.
Previously, these states had limited access to dedicated training facilities, relying on centres in Guwahati and Lucknow, causing logistical challenges. The Ranchi Centre will eliminate these barriers, positioning critical resources closer to field-level workers. This establishment aligns with a broader transformation under Smt. Annpurna Devi’s leadership and signifies a commitment to women and child-centric development. With its New Delhi headquarters and regional centres across the country, the Institute has already trained over 1,000 professionals annually, and the Ranchi Centre is set to enhance its impact in the Eastern belt. This initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to last-mile service delivery and region-specific capacity building.
