Delhi, 3 July (H.S.): The central government has approved proposals for the procurement of ten weapons worth around ₹1.05 lakh crore for the armed forces. These include armored recovery vehicles, electronic warfare systems, a unified inventory management system, and surface-to-air missiles, all to be designed, developed, and manufactured in India.
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved these capital acquisition proposals, enhancing operational preparedness and mobility. Additionally, approvals were granted for moored mines and mine countermeasure vessels.
Moored mines, suspended underwater and anchored to the seabed, are designed to target vessels, enhancing maritime protection. This initiative aims to bolster indigenous defense capabilities, improve air defense, and streamline supply chain management, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting domestic defense industries.
