Guwahati, 3 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and said that the Congress will have to take seven births to stop the sacrifice of cows.

He said, Instead of sacrificing a cow, sacrifice a goat. He said that there is no mention of cow sacrifice anywhere in Islam, any animal can be sacrificed. The Chief Minister was talking to reporters after attending a program here today.

He made this statement in view of the ongoing cow slaughter in the state, where the government has adopted a strict stand on cow protection.

Chief Minister Sarma made it clear that his government is committed to the protection of cows and no leniency will be given in this direction. He also said, Cow is a matter of our faith and the government is completely serious about its protection.

Regarding the Gorukhuti controversy, the Chief Minister said that the Congress party always sings the opposite tune. Politics is being done on the issue where no cow has been killed, but thousands of cows are being killed every day in the state on which the Congress is unable to say anything.

The Chief Minister said that after the removal of Gorukhuti encroachment, the price of land there has increased 100 times. After the construction of Kuruva-Panikhaiti bridge on the Brahmaputra river, the value of land in this entire area will increase significantly. During this, the Chief Minister made many allegations against the Congress.

It is noteworthy that even before this, Chief Minister Sarma has given strong statements against cow smuggling and sacrifice many times. Every day people are being arrested with beef in the state. In the last three days, more than 300 people have been arrested in this connection, while more than 50 tonnes of beef have been seized.
