Bhubaneswar, 29 July (H.S.) On the occasion of International Tiger Day, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan extended warm greetings to wildlife enthusiasts, particularly those dedicated to the cause of tiger conservation.
In a message shared on social media, Shri Pradhan highlighted India’s remarkable achievements in tiger conservation, noting that the country is now home to over 70% of the global tiger population — a result of the all-round conservation efforts undertaken by the Government of India.
He also drew attention to Odisha’s unique contribution, stating, “Odisha is also home to the rare melanistic tiger, a species found nowhere else in the world.”
Reaffirming the government's commitment to wildlife preservation, he added, “Guided by the emphasis laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on protecting wildlife in their natural habitats, let us continue to remain passionate about ensuring safe and thriving habitats for our tigers and safeguarding the future of these majestic creatures.”
