29 July (HS): A mother who had given birth to a girl only 15 days before died

in mysterious circumstances, with her family believing she was killed and

cremated without their knowledge, authorities said on Tuesday. According to

Circle Officer (Dhampur) Abhay Kumar Pandey, the 25-year-old woman's family

filed a case with the Dhampur police station on Monday, accusing her daughter's

husband of murder.

The

allegation states that Ruby Chauhan married Mukul, a Gajraula village native,

around a year and a half ago. The complainant said that Mukul, who was

frequently intoxicated, used to physically attack Ruby. He reportedly strangled her to death on

Monday and conducted her final rites at the Ramganga ghat without alerting her

parents. The lawsuit stated that Ruby had been subjected to heightened abuse

from her in-laws after giving birth to a daughter 15 days earlier. The forensic

team has collected the remains from the cremation site for further investigation,

and Mukul and his mother have been arrested, according to the CO.
