has announced the establishment of the Urban Flood Management Cell (UFMC) in
Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, indicating a significant step toward urban
resilience. The newly established cell
will act as an important hub for monitoring and controlling flood hazards,
deploying advanced early warning technologies to safeguard city residents from
possible flood damage. The historic
launch was attended by prominent people such as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath, who emphasized the necessity of modern flood management
measures. This strategic project
represents a significant step forward in securing cities against more
unpredictable weather patterns. The UFMC
is built on the 'Predict, Prepare, and protect' basis, which makes use of
cutting-edge technologies. It employs modern models to forecast rainfall,
prepare critical resources, and protect infrastructure from catastrophic flood
impacts, therefore successfully protecting the community's welfare and assuring
the city's continuing operation under extreme weather circumstances.
