Guwahati (Assam), 29 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Assam Congress president and Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi, indirectly calling him a disgrace for Assam and accusing him of acting like a Pakistani agent.

In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, CM Sarma referred to Gogoi’s Lok Sabha constituency without naming him directly and alleged that the MP’s recent statements in Parliament were being used by Pakistan to bolster its anti-India propaganda.

“I have doubts on him because he works like a Pakistani agent,” Sarma said, claiming that the Congress MP maintains secret ties with Pakistani entities and has made foreign visits that raise serious questions. He further alleged that Gogoi’s wife and children hold foreign citizenship, suggesting he could leave India anytime.

The CM also pointed out that Gogoi’s remarks in Parliament have been prominently featured in Pakistani media—an unusual development reminiscent of the post-Operation Sindoor era, when Indian political narratives were reportedly used by Pakistan to undermine India.

The war of words between the two leaders has intensified as Gogoi continues to question the government’s actions and policies in Parliament. Sarma’s allegations mark a dramatic escalation in the political rivalry between the BJP and Congress in Assam.
