New Delhi, July 22 (H.S.): Both houses of Parliament were adjourned on Tuesday due to protests by INDIA bloc members against the voter list revision in Bihar and calls for a discussion on Operation Sindoor. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Opposition for its double standards, highlighting their demand for discussions while simultaneously obstructing the House's functioning. He emphasized the government's readiness to discuss issues but pointed out that not all topics could be addressed at once as per the rules established by the Business Advisory Committee. Rijiju voiced concerns over the substantial financial losses the nation incurs from continuous disruptions.

Presiding officer Dilip Saikia condemned the usage of placards in a democratic environment and called for the opposition to consider the government's request. Following ongoing disruptions, he adjourned proceedings. In the Rajya Sabha, Deputy Chairman Harivansh faced similar interruptions, which led to a suspension of proceedings there as well. The Lok Sabha's morning session was marked by Speaker Om Birla's call for the opposition to refrain from shouting slogans or bringing placards, but his efforts were unsuccessful, leading to another adjournment.

The opposition's primary demand included a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise initiated by the Election Commission in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. When the House reconvened, BJP member Jagdambika Pal urged opposition leaders to facilitate the functioning of the House and present their demands in writing. However, protests continued, resulting in another adjournment. Similar disruptive scenes were observed in the Rajya Sabha, marking a tumultuous beginning to the monsoon session of Parliament.
