Delhi, 22 July (H.S.): Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, praised the UPSC’s PRATIBHA Setu initiative, aimed at providing alternative job options for Civil Services aspirants. PRATIBHA, meaning Professional Resource And Talent Integration, and Setu, meaning bridge, offers a new pathway for candidates who narrowly miss final selection after clearing exams and interviews. This initiative is described as a “forward-thinking approach” to optimizing talent, following a meeting with Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The platform has gained traction among employers in both government and private sectors, stemming from the Public Disclosure Scheme of 2018, and has attracted interest from numerous private organizations looking to access a pool of candidates who have excelled in written exams and interviews but were not ultimately selected.
Aspirants appreciate the initiative as it provides meaningful career alternatives beyond traditional civil service roles. PRATIBHA Setu allows verified organizations to register and obtain data on non-recommended candidates from various UPSC examinations, including Civil Services and Indian Forest Service. With 113 organizations already onboard and many more interested, it serves as a trusted source for well-assessed human resources. The program shifts from a passive disclosure model to an interactive recruitment platform, enabling recruiters to directly engage with shortlisted candidates. While some exams like NDA and NA are excluded, PRATIBHA Setu encompasses a broad range of competitive exams with rigorous assessments.
As the UPSC nears its centenary in 2026, such initiatives exemplify its evolving role in public recruitment and human resource development, enhancing governance and employment pathways while addressing the need for effective recruitment strategies.
