Widow Denies Rejecting Promised Job, Seeks Justice from TN Human Rights Commission

Chennai, 12 July (H.S.) : A widow in Tamil Nadu has approached the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission (TNSHRC), alleging that she was denied a government job and compensation promised to her after her husband's death. According to sources, her husband, M Murugan, a 36-year-old Dalit van driver, was allegedly beaten to death by three Sankarankovil police personnel in March 2024 after a freak accident involving his van and an autorickshaw.

The widow complained to the State Human Rights Commission that despite her husband's tragic death, she has yet to receive the promised government job and compensation. However, the district administration claimed that she had turned down the job offer. The widow vehemently denied this allegation.

The case highlights the challenges faced by individuals, particularly women, in securing employment and benefits promised to them. The TNSHRC will likely investigate the matter and determine whether the widow's rights have been violated. The outcome of this investigation will be crucial in determining justice for the widow and her family.
