01 July (HS): On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the Mahayogi
Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur and attend a number of official
engagements as part of her two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, authorities said. Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted the event, describing it as the start of a
new era in health and culture in the state. According to sources,
the President would open the Rs 268 crore AYUSH University at Pipri, Bhathat;
at around 11.30 a.m. Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath will welcome her at the event. Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Uttar
Pradesh Minister of State for AYUSH and Food Safety (Independent Charge), as
well as local MP Ravi Kishan Shukla and other dignitaries, will attend the
event.
In
a post on X on Tuesday morning, Adityanath stated that a new age of health and
culture is beginning in Gorakhpur. The
opening of Uttar Pradesh's first AYUSH University in the august presence of
Honourable President Droupadi Murmu ji heralds the dawn of a new era in
healthcare services. He expressed optimism in the university's future, saying,
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji's leadership, this university will
emerge as a beacon of Indian knowledge traditions, yoga, Ayurveda, and holistic
health, in addition to being a center of medical education. Yogi
Adityanath, the Peethadhishwar (head) of Goraksha Peeth, a major Nath sect
seat, emphasized the region's spiritual and service-oriented tradition.
In
a separate tweet, the chief minister stated that education is the cornerstone
of a civilized, cultured, and powerful community. “I shall participate in the
inauguration and foundation stone laying event at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University
in Gorakhpur, with the blessings of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath ji and the
gracious presence of President Droupadi Murmu ji and Governor Anandiben Patel
ji. He stated that the institution would become a vibrant hub of value-based
innovation, skill-based research, and character development. The blessed soil
of Gorakhpur is now working ceaselessly toward the ideal of a 'Developed India
-- Developed Uttar Pradesh' as a 'Aarogyadham-Gyanadham' (abode of health and
knowledge), he added.
Officials
said the President will also open the academic building, auditorium,
Panchakarma unit, and lay the groundwork for a ladies' hostel at the Mahayogi
Gorakhnath University Aarogyadham campus in Sonbarsa. President Murmu began her
tour on Monday in Bareilly, where she served as the principal guest at the
Indian Veterinary Research Institute's 11th convocation. Later that day, she
arrived in Gorakhpur to attend the first convocation of AIIMS Gorakhpur. She also went to the famed Gorakhnath temple,
where she offered prayers amidst Vedic chanting by pupils.
