Bhubaneswar, 1 July (H.S.): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today took to social media to extend his heartfelt gratitude to India’s doctors and healthcare professionals on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day. In a message shared via his official handles, the Minister lauded the medical fraternity’s “expertise, leadership, compassion, integrity and selfless service,” describing them as “the backbone of India’s public healthcare system.”
“On National Doctors Day, I salute our doctors and healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication and exceptional contributions,” Mr. Pradhan wrote. “Their tireless efforts in patient care, medical research, and public health initiatives have played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s health infrastructure. We remain deeply grateful for their service to the nation.”
In the same post, the Minister paid homage to one of India’s most illustrious physicians and public servants, Bharat Ratna Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, on his birth anniversary. Dr. Roy, who served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal and was instrumental in laying the foundations of modern healthcare and medical education in the state, was remembered for his remarkable legacy.
“Today, we also commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.C. Roy—an extraordinary physician, statesman, and visionary leader whose work reshaped medical practice and public health policy in India. His life remains an inspiration to us all,” Mr. Pradhan added.
