North 24 Parganas, 1 July (H.S.): Tension gripped the Haroa area of North 24 Parganas after a man’s bloodied, hanging body was recovered from inside his house on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Lakshmikanta Mondal, a resident of Raikhna village under Khashbalanda Gram Panchayat under Haroa police station area. Following the incident, both his wife and son have gone missing, raising suspicions of foul play.

According to sources, Lakshmikanta lived with his wife and son. On Monday night, his body was found hanging in a room of his house with a noose made from a saree. Local residents, shocked by the scene, rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police were immediately informed.

Upon reaching the hospital and the scene of the incident, Haroa police initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings revealed multiple injuries on the deceased’s head and body, along with visible bloodstains on various parts of his body. One of the fingers on his left hand was found broken. Police also recovered a spade from the scene, further intensifying suspicions of murder.

Locals and family members are now questioning whether Lakshmikanta was first beaten and killed, and then hanged to make it look like a suicide. The sudden disappearance of his wife and son has only deepened doubts. Was the wife involved in the murder and did she flee with their son?

Lakshmikanta’s extended family has alleged that he was murdered and demanded strict punishment for those responsible. The body has been sent for post-mortem, which investigators say will shed light on the actual cause of death. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace the missing wife and son.

The police continue to investigate all angles of this mysterious and tragic incident.
