Delhi, 4 June (H.S.): The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances represents India in the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) since 1998. IIAS consists of 31 Member Countries and collaborates in public administration research. Notable member countries include India, Japan, Germany, and South Africa, with active engagement with the UN’s Committee of Experts on Public Administration and the UN Public Administration Network.

In November 2024, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated Secretary DARPG V. Srinivas for the IIAS Presidency for 2025-2028. The IIAS presidency nominations hearing took place in February 2025, with India, South Africa, Austria, and Bahrain participating. After South Africa withdrew, elections were held on June 3, 2025, resulting in India receiving 87 votes (61.7 percent) against Austria's 54 votes (38.3 percent), securing a historic mandate as the first Indian presidency in IIAS's century-long history. The Indian Presidency underlines the vision of “Maximum Governance – Minimum Government,” focusing on next-generation administrative reforms, digital empowerment, and bridging the North-South Divide to promote unity and inclusivity. The acceptance speech from the Secretary DARPG to the Council of Administration is attached.
