Thiruvananthapuram,05 June(HS): The ministers of the LDF Government in Kerala boycotted the Environment Day function held at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram because of their anger against the larger-than-life photograph of Bharat Matha on the stage. Though advance invitations had been sent to the ministers, the Communist ministers were irritated and annoyed over the displaying of Bharat Matha’s photograph.
Governor Rajendra Arlekar, who inaugurated Environment Day by offering floral tributes to Bharat Mata’s photograph, said in his speech that the spirit and light of India are Bharat Matha and there is no Bharat without this icon. He also expressed his displeasure over the ministers boycotting the function.
Recently the Raj Bhavan organized a seminar on Operation Sindhoor. Noted chartered accountant and chief editor of Tughlaq magazine S Gurumurthy addressed the audience and explained the factors that led India to launch Operation Sindhoor. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while addressing a media briefing had said that the seminar ad resembled a RSS meeting. “The Raj Bhavan should not have held such an event,” said Vijayan.
The CPI(M) and CPI in Kerala have made Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, infamous as total anarchists, their role models. Activists of the CPI(M) promoted SFI and DYFI make it a point to wear T-shirts with photographs of Che Guevera and Castro.
All functions organized by the CPI(M) spot larger-than-life-sized posters of these two anarchists. For the CPI(M) and the CPI, the terms Bharat and Bharat Matha are anathema while they adore characters like Mao Zedong, Josef Stalin and Pol Pot.
