New Delhi, June 4(HS): COVID-19 cases are rising nationwide, with 276 new cases in the last 24 hours, increasing active cases to 4,302. Seven deaths have occurred recently, including one each in Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and four in Maharashtra. The total recoveries reach 3,281, with 581 patients recovering in the last day. Delhi reported 64 new infections, resulting in 457 active cases. The surge is attributed to four variants: LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1, with AMB.1.8.1 identified as a new subvariant in India. The World Health Organization’s Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution has classified this variant as 'under monitoring' due to significant changes, although its epidemiological impact remains unclear.
