04 June (HS): UP Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and

Prohibition, Nitin Agarwal informed that in the month of May 2025 of the

current financial year, the Excise Department has received revenue of Rs

5451.22 crore (111.25 percent) against the target of Rs 4900 crore, whereas

last year, revenue of Rs 4593.44 crore was earned against the target of Rs 4900

crore for the same month. In the financial year 2025-26, revenue of Rs 9770.68

crore has been received till the month of May, 2025.

Excise

Minister Nitin informed that in the financial year 2025-26, till the month of

May, 2025, a total of 19,800 cases of illegal liquor manufacture, sale and

smuggling were registered in the state and 5.47 lakh liters of illegal liquor

was recovered. 3,681 persons involved in illegal liquor business were arrested

and 716 persons were sent to jail and 27 vehicles involved in illegal liquor

smuggling were seized. The estimated market value of the recovered liquor is

Rs. 18.53 crore.

The

Excise Minister informed that in the last financial year 2024-25, till the

month of May, 2024, a total of 18,026 cases of illegal liquor manufacture, sale

and smuggling were registered in the state and 5.03 lakh liters of illegal

liquor was recovered. 4,330 persons involved in illegal liquor trade were

arrested and 1,466 persons were sent to jail and 37 vehicles involved in

illegal liquor smuggling were seized. The estimated market value of the

recovered liquor is Rs. 13.48 crore.
