Dehradun, June 26(HS): A horrific accident in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, left three dead, eight injured, and nine missing when a 31-seater bus plunged into a gorge 12 kilometers from Rudraprayag.
Superintendent of Police Akshay Pralhad Kande reported a total of 20 passengers, with eight safely rescued after being thrown from the bus. Recovery efforts are ongoing, led by the SDRF, police, and local administration. Preliminary investigations point to driver negligence and technical failure as the likely causes of the accident.
A case has been filed at Rudraprayag police station under IPC sections related to endangering life, causing death by negligence, and reckless driving. Additionally, a woman’s body was found in the Alaknanda River, 30 kilometers from the accident site, with identification in progress.
