New Delhi, June 2 (H.S.): During the visit to France, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, in Paris. Pouyanné outlined the company's investment plans in India and discussed opportunities for cooperation in the renewable energy sector. He noted that negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Oman are progressing, with positive developments anticipated soon.

Goyal is also set to attend a World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meeting on June 3, expressing optimism about the Oman FTA. His visit aims to bolster trade and investment ties with French leaders and businesses, following his earlier trip to Muscat. He highlighted Oman as India’s third-largest export destination among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Additionally, he mentioned an existing agreement with the UAE and stated that negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) began in November 2023, aimed at enhancing market access, competitiveness, and productivity.
