Delhi, 15 June (H.S.): India is set to celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY), with Visakhapatnam designated as the national host for its 11th edition. Senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush and the Andhra Pradesh government, including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha and K. Vijayanand, conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations. This inspection emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision of bringing yoga to everyone, particularly within grassroots communities. Key sites for the upcoming events, such as RK Beach and Andhra University, will host yoga demonstrations and serve as venues for cultural and wellness activities.
The review involved discussions on coordination among departments, mobilization strategies, security, and cultural integration to promote public participation. The ultimate goal is to ensure every logistical aspect supports the national aim of yoga as a mass movement. The initiative Yogandhra aims to make yoga a daily practice for over two crore citizens in the state, featuring mass awareness campaigns and yoga camps across institutions.
With celebrations slated at one lakh locations and an anticipated five lakh participants in Visakhapatnam alone, Yogandhra reflects the Prime Minister’s call for an inclusive approach to yoga. The Ministry of Ayush praised Andhra Pradesh's proactive leadership and community engagement model, which aligns with the evolving perspective of IDY as a global wellness movement rooted in Indian tradition. As June 21 approaches, Visakhapatnam is positioning itself to exemplify yoga’s power in uniting communities and enhancing overall well-being.
