Imphal, 15 June (HS): Security forces conducted a search operation in Thayong Chingyang Shangran Ching Makha Laikot Kom village under Yangangpokpi police station area of Imphal East district and recovered a huge quantity of weapons and explosives.

Police PRO said on Sunday that the recovered material includes one 12 bore bolt action rifle, one 12 bore SBBL rifle, one para bomb (51 mm), one number 36 hand grenade, one pompy bomb, three 12 bore live cartridges, two tear smoke shells (pepper-filled), one tear smoke shell (soft nose), one rubber bullet (38 mm anti-riot), one tear smoke grenade and one BP jacket (without plate).

Security forces have taken the recovered material into custody and started further investigation. It is feared that these were to be used in some criminal or anti-social activity.
