Ahmedabad, June 15 (HS): DNA samples from 32 victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash have been matched. Families of these victims have been contacted, and 14 bodies have been returned to their relatives. The crash occurred on June 12 when an Air India flight AI171 en route to London crashed in Meghani Nagar.

The bodies were severely mutilated, complicating identification and prompting the use of DNA testing. Dr. Rajnish Patel, additional medical superintendent of the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, reported that matches were confirmed among victims from various cities, including Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

Each family has a dedicated team composed of a senior officer, a police officer, and a professional counselor to facilitate the process. The remaining remains are being handed over with respect.
