Goalpara (Assam), 13 June (HS): There is terror of wild elephants in various places of Goalpara district these days. Wild elephants are attacking local people every day at various places in the district. In this regard, a wild elephant attacked a person in Rangjuli, and he killed, local police informed on Friday.

According to the Forest officials, a person named Winston Sangma (71) killed in the attack by the wild elephant that came out of the herd in Auguri-Garopara under Rangjuli police station. At the time of the incident, Winston Sangma was sitting on a bench in front of the door of his house, meanwhile suddenly a wild elephant attacked him, Winston Sangma killed on the spot due to the attack.

The local people informed the Forest Department and Police officials about the incident. On receiving the information, the forest workers of Rangjuli forest regional office and Rangjuli police station reached the spot and took the body in their custody and brought it to Rangjuli police station. Today (Friday) the body has been sent to Goalpara Community Health Center for postmortem. There is a wave of mourning in the village due to this incident.
