Amravati, 13 June (HS): Various organisations
supporting former minister Bachhu Kadu’s hunger strike for the cause of farmers
and disabled have threatened to stage a state-wide road blockade agitation on June
15. Kadu is the founder of the social organisation ‘Prahar’ and the political party Janshakti,
and has been on a hunger strike since June 8, at Gurukunj Mozari in Amravati
district.
The proposed strike on June 14 was deferred to June
15 following an air crash in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has agreed to
discuss the issue with Kadu. The decision on waiving farmers’ loans will be
taken in due course of time. The other demands can be discussed immediately.
Kadu has been on a hunger strike since June 8. The major
demands include waiving farm loans for farmers and hiking the honorarium for the
disabled.
