Delhi, 13 June (H.S.): Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, addressed the inaugural Conclave on “Best Practices” organized by the Union Ministry of Health at AIIMS, Nagpur. The two-day event aims to highlight exemplary practices across AIIMS institutions, emphasizing patient-centric care, operational efficiency, digital transformation, and academic excellence. Participation includes AIIMS from Bhopal, Jammu, Bilaspur, Jodhpur, Nagpur, Deoghar, Patna, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Raipur, the PMSSY division, and the Ministry of Defense. The opening address was delivered by Union Health Secretary, Punya Salila Srivastava.
JP Nadda remarked on the significance of AIIMS as Institutes of National Importance, which provide advanced clinical care and high-quality medical education while addressing regional healthcare disparities. He stressed the need to share innovations among AIIMS and praised AIIMS Nagpur for leading this initiative. The Conclave is described as a pioneering effort to gather experiences in teaching, hospital services, governance, and patient convenience, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing public health and developing future healthcare leaders.
JP Nadda emphasized AIIMS's vital role in training doctors for future healthcare challenges, highlighting the move towards a Competency Based Medical Education curriculum, digital learning investments, advanced simulation laboratories, and structured mentorship programs as indicators of a commitment to educational excellence. He noted that new AIIMS are contributing to scientific advancements in India through regionally relevant studies, ethical clinical trials, and translational research, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations to address complex public health issues. AIIMS campuses are transforming patient care by providing high-quality, evidence-based, and affordable treatments through advanced infrastructure and a variety of specialties. The incorporation of e-governance tools, transparent administrative frameworks, and patient-oriented innovations like Jan Aushadhi Kendras and digital registration systems exemplifies the balance of efficiency and compassion in public healthcare. Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the need for stakeholder involvement to advance the government's vision of excellence in medical education and universal healthcare, stressing that institutional growth relies on strong leadership and learning from best practices. Key attendees included senior officials from the Ministry, military health services, and AIIMS leadership.
