Dehradun, June 14(HS): A total of 451 cadets graduated from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) today, with 419 joining the Indian Army and 32 being foreign cadets. The Passing Out Parade (POP) was attended by Lieutenant General BKGM Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, who acted as Reviewing Officer. The parade showcased cadets marching confidently to the army band's tunes, highlighting their pride and discipline. The event featured a stunning march past that captivated the audience. Following the parade, the Peeping and Oath Ceremony marked the official induction of the 451 cadets as lieutenants, representing their respective national armies. General Rodrigo acknowledged outstanding performances among the graduates and celebrated the academy's rich history since its establishment on October 1, 1932. Originally starting with 40 cadets, the IMA has expanded its capacity to 1,660 over the decades, with over 65,000 graduates, including international cadets.

The ceremony was graced by various dignitaries, including Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma and Major General Alok Naresh, along with family members, while stringent security was provided by Dehradun police. The event concluded with flowers showered from an army helicopter, commemorating the achievements of the new officers.
