East Medinipur, 13 June (H.S.)
Classes are allegedly being conducted by dummy teachers while the teacher collects salary from home in Nachinda Jeevankrishna High School of East Medinipur district. District School Inspector Palash Roy has summoned a report from the Additional District School Inspector (Secondary) of Kanthi regarding the incident. He has been asked to submit a report by sending a copy of the news published in a local newspaper. Palash Roy said, The report will be submitted after visiting the school.
Allegedly, the English teacher of Nachinda Jeevankrishna High School, Moumita Maiti Jana has not been going to school for a long time. She does not even take classes. She gives a donation of ₹40 thousand per month to the school. The school has hired five contract teachers with that money. Everyone is given an honorarium of five thousand rupees per month. In this way, in the absence of a teacher, the school is being run by keeping five dummy teachers. That teacher also has no problem in getting salary. The school management committee has accepted the whole matter. The school management committee and school officials are promoting this illegal act.
As per information, a faction of the management committee had initially advised not to compromise with this irregularity. But, the other faction including the chairman of the management committee did not implement it. Due to which the English teacher is being given benefits in lieu of ₹40 thousand per month for many days.
Earlier, a similar case of keeping a dummy teacher was also reported in Bhagwanpur Primary School of Chandipur Block. The District Council Member of Trinamool Congress is also a teacher in that school. Instead of going to school himself, he used to get the classes conducted by his brother's wife. After the incident came to light in the media, the District School Inspector (Primary) summoned the District Council Member. The dummy teacher was barred from going to school.
Block Health Officer Ravindranath Jana of Bhagwanpur (2) said, My wife is suffering from mental illness. She is undergoing treatment with a psychiatrist in Kanthi. Therefore, it is not possible for her to go to school and conduct classes. In this situation, I pay ₹40,000 every month after discussing with the school authorities and management committee. I have asked them to keep teachers on contract so that there is no disruption in studies. I have told them that if more teachers are needed, I will cooperate with the school.
