Jammu, 13 June (H.S.): Apni Party’s provincial president for Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh has raised serious concern over the ignorant attitude adopted by the bureaucracy towards the suffering of the people in Jammu region, facing heatwave with frequent electricity cuts and irregular drinking water supplies.
“The plains are badly hit with the frequent power cuts that have put the lives of the people to suffer, when the mercury has touched over 45 degree Celsius with no hopes for rainfall,” said Manjit Singh.
He was addressing a joining program that was organised by the Apni Party active member, Farooq Chauhan.
Recalling the difficulties faced by the people during the ongoing summer season, he said that the water supply system has collapsed in Kandi belt and the concerned Jal Shakti Department has failed to supply water through water tanks to the needy people.
“People can be seen hiring water from the private tankers. The summers have put additional financial burden on the pockets of the people, who shall get the benefit from the Govt. It is the inability of the Govt as well as the administration that the people’s suffering has multiplied,” he added.
He demanded that the electricity should be supplied round the clock and the power cuts schedule shall be reduced to as much as possible.
He also demanded to waive off the electricity bills and drinking water bills.
“The bills shall not be charged to the people. The J&K Govt and the administration shall act as a welfare state and provide all possible respite to the people,” he added.
Earlier, a prominent social activist, Pankaj Gupta along with his supporters joined the Apni Party here at Gandhi Nagar office in Jammu.
Welcoming them into the party fold, Manjit Singh appreciated the decision of the leaders for joining the party and hoped that their joining would strengthen the party at the grass root level.
Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Gupta said that he was impressed with the policy and equitable developmental agenda of the Apni Party in Jammu and Kashmir.
