Delhi, 10 June (H.S.): Today in Brussels, Foreign Minister Dr. Jaishankar conducted the inaugural India-EU strategic dialogue with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, focusing on defense, maritime security, counter-terrorism, cyber and artificial intelligence, and space cooperation. Dr. Jaishankar presented India's viewpoint on the Indo-Pacific, Europe, and West Asia while on his official visit to France, the EU, and Belgium. His agenda includes discussions with EU leadership and the Belgian government aimed at enhancing India’s strategic partnerships.
Following the EU's agreement to strengthen cooperation in defence and technology, a joint press statement was issued, where Kallas condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack and affirmed India's right to protect its citizens while calling for accountability for the attackers. Jaishankar reiterated India's 'zero tolerance' stance on terrorism and met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to thank her for her condemnation of the incident, emphasizing a united front against terrorism. He also met Belgian King Philippe, and in discussions with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, they committed to advancing partnerships in trade, security, clean energy, semiconductors, and innovation.
