COVID-19 active cases exceed 3758; two died
New Delhi, June 1 (HS): The number of COVID-19 cases is rapidly increasing in the country. In the last 24 hours, two patients have died due to the coronavirus. A 63-year-old elderly patient in Karnataka, who had other serious illnesses, passed away.

New Delhi, June 1 (HS): The number of COVID-19 cases is rapidly increasing in the country. In the last 24 hours, two patients have died due to the coronavirus. A 63-year-old elderly patient in Karnataka, who had other serious illnesses, passed away. In Kerala, a 24-year-old woman died from the infection.

The Health Ministry reported on Sunday morning that the number of active COVID cases in the country has risen to 3758. In the past 24 hours, 363 new infected patients were detected, while 1818 patients were discharged after treatment. According to the data, COVID cases are rapidly increasing in all states. Kerala has the highest number with 1400 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 485 and Delhi with 436 cases. Four new variants of the coronavirus have been found in the country.

According to ICMR, four new variants of COVID-19 have been identified in southern and western India. These include LF.7, XEF.G, JN.1, and AMB.1.8.1. JN.1 has become the most common variant in India, found in more than 50 percent of tested samples. It is a strain of Omicron BA.2.86 and weakens immunity. However, the World Health Organization has categorized it as a variant of interest, but these variants are not considered highly concerning.
