Paris, May 31 (HS): Current French Open champion Iga Swiatek has advanced to the fourth round after defeating Romania's Jacqueline Cristian 6-2, 7-5. Despite the challenging heat in Paris, Swiatek displayed strong play, winning the first set comfortably with two breaks. After cooling off, she faced a tougher second set where Cristian leveled at 4-4, but Swiatek utilized her experience to clinch the match in the 12th game.
Swiatek expressed satisfaction with her solid performance and the quality of play. In other matches, 12th seed Elena Rybakina showcased her form by defeating former champion Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 6-2, finishing with a winning forehand. Additionally, Italy's fourth seed Jasmine Paolini easily defeated Ukraine's Yulia Starodubtseva in straight sets and will face either Elina Svitolina or Bernarda Pera next.
