Malaysia, May 29 (HS): Manchester United faced a 0-1 defeat against the Asian All-Stars, a team of selected players from Southeast Asia, in an exhibition football match played at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. Myanmar's men's national football team captain, Maung Maung Lwin, scored the only goal in the 71st minute, bringing his team a historic victory.

Facing the audience's booing, coach Amorim acknowledged the team's shortcomings

Coach Ruben Amorim's team faced backlash from the audience after the final whistle. Some supporters even left the stadium before the match ended.

After the match, Amorim said, We played slowly, and we still do not have the mindset that we should win every practice session or every game. The disappointment of the audience is important so that we can understand our shortcomings.

In the heat of 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit), the first half of the match saw the Southeast Asian players' team appearing more aggressive. In the 16th minute, one of their attempts went wide of the goal, while United's keeper André Onana made an impressive save from a low shot that won the audience's heart.

Teenage midfielder Kobe Manu made the first real opportunity for United from 25 yards, which was sent out by the opposing goalkeeper. In the 38th minute, another attempt was halted just before the goal line.

In the second half, Bruno and Garnacho's efforts were ineffective.

At the start of the second half, captain Bruno Fernandes was brought onto the field, whose half-volley showed a bit of energy but did not change the outcome. Argentina's young winger Alejandro Garnacho, who may potentially leave the club, did bring some intensity after coming off the bench, but that too was in vain.

In the 71st minute, Maung Maung Lwin skillfully outmaneuvered United's defense, beating goalkeeper Tom Heaton and sending the ball into the top corner of the net. Soon after, Heaton made another save, preventing United from further embarrassment.

The next match against Hong Kong was extremely poor for the season. Manchester United will now face Hong Kong's national team in another mixed exhibition match on May 30. This season has been very disappointing for United, as they managed to secure only 42 points in 38 matches in the country's top football league, finishing in 15th place. However, they found some relief by defeating Aston Villa 2-0 in their final match of the season.

United suffered a defeat against Tottenham in the final of the European League (Europa), which resulted in their failure to qualify for the Champions League (UEFA Champions League) for the next season.

At the end of the season, Amorim said, It has been a very poor season, but I believe that good days will surely come. If there is any club in the world that can overcome any adversity, it is Manchester United.
