Kathmandu, May 27 (H.S.): The death of Naxalite Keshav Rao alias Basavaraj during an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district has been declared tragic. A minute of silence was observed in a meeting led by Maoist party president Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachand.' Maoist Vice President Agni Sapkota stated that the killing of Basavaraj and other leaders is sensitive and will have long-term consequences. The statement urged that the Naxalite issue should be addressed through dialogue rather than repression, advocating for a political solution through new approaches. Basavaraj, wanted for 10 crores, was killed on May 21, 2025.
